A training program for Developing Experts in Computation, 'Omics, and Data Exploration.
Find Out MoreThe DECODE program is an NIH funded T32 program to provide advanced training in bionformatics and computational biology. The training takes place during the first two years of your PhD program to accelerate and enhance dissertation research. No previous experience in bioinformatics or Big Data is necessary!
This federally funded program provides students cross-disciplinary training in computational, quantitative, and analytical realms to harness the power of 'BigData' in biomedical sciences. Participants are selected concurrently with their application to UNMC graduate programs and matriculating students will receive training from preceptors representing 38 laboratories in 14 basic science and clinical departments at UNMC, as well as from faculty at UNO.
The T32 DECODE program involves several types of amazing training activities and opportunities!
Training ActivitiesDECODE students participate in workshops designed to enhance both research and career skills. Workshops include productivity and technology, presentation, writing, and the development of bioinformatic skills.
Weekly seminars and yearly symposia include student-selected speakers as well as alumni of the program. Students have the opportunity to meet with speakers and share their research.
Trainees take courses in bioinformatics, statistics, and critical thinking. This includes additional training in team leadership, project design, data management, figure preparation, and publication of results!
DECODE trainees develop lifelong connections within their cohort, with alumni, with invited speakers, and with faculty. We are invested in your success and provide help long after students advance beyond the training program!
Feel free to contact us, we're happy to chat about the excellent training that we provide. Send us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
